During mediation, the mediator, who is an experienced and trained professional, will organize, facilitate and manage the process to allow parties to resolve the dispute through effective communication. It is an entirely confidential process that focuses on parties’ interests and vests the decision making power with the parties, empowering them to arrive at win-win solutions.

Mediation is a facilitative and interest-based process which helps parties resolve disputes in a confidential manner while saving time and money. It allows parties to arrive at mutually agreeable and flexible solutions while fostering a collaborative environment and preserving relationships. It is an efficient and cost-effective process that allows parties to have greater control over the outcomes in comparison to litigation.

To become an accredited mediator in Sri Lanka, you generally need to complete a recognized mediation training program.

Do not worry, the mediation process can still proceed. Parties can choose one mediator or opt for co-mediation, which involves two or more mediators working together as a team to facilitate a dispute resolution process.

UDecide is the first and only organization in Sri Lanka that offers a training program in conjunction with SAGE Mediation Singapore that will allow participants to become accredited mediators under the Singapore International Mediation Institute and the Swiss Chamber of Commercial Mediators.
